Sewn By Rowns
ABOUT ME
Sewn by Rowns has been a shop long in the making. My mother was a seamstress in Nigeria, but when my family came to America, she stopped sewing professionally. However, she brought her sewing machine with her, and I watched her for hours making things as her hobby. By the time I was six years old, I could take out every errant stitch in a blouse!
Unfortunately, once I hit 13, I completely lost interest in sewing. However, in college, I took a liking to Ankara fabric skirts but going to a tailor all the time did not fit my student budget. So around my sophomore year, I bought a cheap sewing machine from Amazon, even cheaper fabric and then taught myself to sew skirts and small accessories (with great tips from my mom, of course). While the quality of my materials and equipment have since improved, I still love Ankara fabrics, and it seemed obvious to combine the two! Thus, Sewn by Rowns was born.
